Cyient DLM's testing teams — running In-Circuit Tests, Functional Tests, Automatic Tests, and other quality checks — were capturing results manually, a process that's slow, error-prone, and hard to audit at scale. Empedance was brought in to build an internal system that could digitise this entire data-feeding workflow: standardised forms for test entry, a searchable record of every submission, and the admin controls needed to manage who can see and do what.
The starting point was understanding the shape of the existing paper-based process — what fields every test result actually needs (serial numbers, test dates, customer and product names, pass/fail outcomes, rework details, personnel sign-off), and where the current process breaks down: duplicate entries, illegible handwriting, no easy way to search past results, and no clear record of who submitted or approved what.
That mapped directly to three system requirements: a clean, structured data-entry form that mirrors the test floor's existing paperwork so adoption is easy, a central submitted-data view so records are searchable and auditable, and role-based access so admins can manage users and permissions without engineering involvement.
The interface was designed around clarity and speed for test operators who need to log results quickly and accurately between tests. A left-hand navigation groups related test types (ICT, FCT, ATE, JTAG, EOL) under one dashboard, while the data-entry form uses a clean grid layout matching the fields testers already know from the paper process — reducing training time to near zero.
For the submitted-data view, both operator and admin roles were designed as filtered, sortable tables so records can be pulled up instantly by date, customer, or product — with the admin view carrying extra columns and controls that a floor operator doesn't need. A dedicated settings area keeps role management (who can access what) and appearance (light/dark theme) simple and self-serve.
